Criminalizing Phony War Medals
Declaring himself “outraged by the impostors” who falsely claim to have received high military decorations, Rep. John Salazar (D-Colo.) has introduced a bill to make it a federal crime – subject to fine and/or imprisonment – to engage in such behavior. Those who falsely represent themselves as war heroes “dishonor themselves” as well as the “true recipients” of such medals.
