I received an e-mail from a gun-control addict who attacked the “bonkers idea” that the presence of more guns decreases violence. Forget the empirical studies provided by John Lott – a man who is probably biased by factual evidence – the e-mailer need only confront this question: why is it that whenever some social disruption occurs, scores upon scores of cops show up, armed with machine-guns?
