There are reports of a deal for the billionaire bailout. That’s based on a meeting with a few power brokers. If true, that shows that the civic books view of Congress as a deliberative body of equals is a fraud. In fact, Congress is a political machine run much like Caesar’s army where all fall in line with the leader to maximize their collective power over the enemy (the people) and so grab the most loot for the troops in the end.
