Congrats to Jeh Johnson, DHS’s Sponge-Er, Secretary

The fine folks at Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) have named this execrable bureaucrat June’s “Porker of the Month.” Said award is “given to lawmakers, government officials, and political candidates who have shown a blatant disregard for the interests of taxpayers.” That’s impossibly stiff competition; let’s double our congrats to ol’ Jeh!

What inclined CAGW’s judges in Wilbur’s–sorry, Jeh’s favor? He “fail[ed] to take sufficient steps to eliminate the ‘nightmarish’ lines” that have characterized “Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport checkpoints across the nation” much of this year.

Nor is that all. CAGW also excoriates his “many feeble responses to this unprecedented and unnecessary problem,” such as lying about the TSA’s budget: Wilbur claimed that it had decreased when, like all of Leviathan’s budgets, it galloped in precisely the opposite direction. “He also pledged to hire more TSA officers, while admitting that the additional staff would not improve the lengthy wait times during the summer travel season. He assured air travelers that TSA would be asking airports for help with insignificant ‘nonsecurity’ activities like moving bins that carry laptops, shoes, and other items through scanners even though airlines already spend millions to help move travelers through TSA’s inefficient process.” And, my personal favorite, he “‘[told] passengers on May 13, 2016 to simply ‘contemplate increased wait times as you travel.'”

It’s heartening to see a guy succeed when he tries this hard. So here’s to you, Wilbur! Join me in dumping a glass of swill on this despicable pig with his snout firmly buried in the public trough. And thanks to CAGW for calling Wilbur on his crimes.
