There are great leading men, and then there are great leading character actors. Charles Durning, one of the greatest leading character actors of the last 50 years, has died at the age of 89. Rather than list all of his acting credits, I found this YouTube video bio which you can have fun watching and thinking, “Oh, yeah, I forgot he was in that movie.” (Ignore the military service/”war hero” crap segment. Charles Durning was a not a hero because of his service for the military-industrial complex. Charles Durning was a hero because he provided people with a real service—his terrific acting talent.)
