Bush’s Budget

Lew: A $3,000,000,000,000 proposed budget would be 30 times the amount proposed by President Kennedy. When Bush says that his measure “emphasizes physical restraint,” he is probably being honest for once: he undoubtedly means that the bulk of such funds will be used to “physically restrain” the rest of us!

Bush’s budget

Includes such gems as $1.5 billion more for foreign aid, $268 million more for coal research, $260 million more for hydrogen research, and $28 billion more for student aid over 10 years, plus $100 million to promote “healthy marriages” and $1.5 billion to expand federal control over high schools. Thanks to CATO’s Chris Edwards and Alan Reynolds for exposing some of the gory details of Bush’s “fiscally responsible” budget.
