Tom, it’s sickening to see Bush touring Africa like some Roman emperor or Egyptian god-king, dispensing other people’s money in gifts to those who have bent the knee to him. His entourage is larger than Caesar’s or pharoah’s, but the special interest aspect is just the same. Bush rip-offs American taxpayers to subsidize the pharmaceutical-industrial complex with tens of billions more, as we sink into another federal depression. This is, say the media. compassion.
UPDATE from David Bardallis: “I was just in Tanzania in August. Like every other African country, it has its problems, including disease, poor infrastructure, and so on. But the people, from Zanzibar to Arusha, were friendly and seemingly happy, and the country is absolutely gorgeous. I shudder to think about Bush and the Neocons ‘transforming’ or otherwise ‘helping’ Tanzania in our name and with our tax dollars. Why are they never happy unless they are wrecking something?”
