In March 2003, Pope John Paul II sent his personal emissary, Cardinal Pio Laghi, to warn the “Christian” Bush that the invasion of Iraq would cause “chaos.”
Bush didn’t even open Saint John Paul’s personal letter. He laid it aside and lectured the Cardinal (for the bully Bush, such filibustering was routine).
Today the Syriac Catholic Patriarch agrees. ““I can tell you, we’ve been not only abandoned by the Western countries, but even we have been betrayed,” Patriarch Ignace Joseph III Younan told The Southern Cross, newspaper of the Diocese of San Diego.
And the betrayers? They sleep peacefully with round-the-clock guards.
