Listening to G. Gordon Liddy interview a woman who recently returned from Iraq, I learned today that the elections, which are being managed by the U.S. government, require that one third of all candidates for the legislature be women. The virtue of this, said Liddy’s expert on democracy, is that Iraqi women are more likely to vote for a bigger welfare state, seeing how so many of them are widows.
