Another Victory for Heroic Ed—And Us!

British Home Secretary Theresa May told “MPs” who were “questioning” her, “…[T]he Snowden leaks … [have] had an impact on the ability of our agencies to do the work they need to do. It would be fair to say it has had an impact not just on agencies in the UK.”

To which any decent person responds, “Oh, joy! You mean you can’t spy with as much impunity or criminality as you did before Heroic Ed’s disclosures? Yay, yay, YAY!!!!!!” Among the other “agencies” suffering this “impact” is the king of them all, the NSA, whose unconscionable spooks often lodge precisely the same charge against our champ.

Jumping back across the pond, we find this allegation from one “Lord West, who served as both an admiral and a security minister … : ‘Since the revelations of the traitor Snowden,”—what a goof, eh? Here’s a politician who routinely betrays liberty smearing Heroic Ed as a “traitor”—“terrorist groups – in particular ISIL (the so-called Islamic State) – have changed their methods of communications and shifted to other ways of talking to each other. Consequently there are people dying who actually would now be alive.’”

Once again, Britain’s dictators are cribbing answers from ours: “[House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger [announce]– ‘Snowden’s acts of betrayal truly place America’s military men and women in greater danger around the world.’” Alas, this appears to be another huge whopper since neither British nor American tyrants can cite a single such example from the real world rather than from their perfervid imaginings.

But if it were true, everyone decent would once again exclaim, “Great! Let’s hope that drives those invaders home, where they belong, instead of plundering, killing, and interfering overseas.”

Meanwhile, perhaps ISIL really has “changed their [sic] methods of communications and shifted to other ways of talking to each other.” But Americans haven’t: a recent poll found that despite Heroic Ed’s revelations, only 2% of us encrypt our email while a mere 5%  “cloak” our browers. So either ISIL’s a lot savvier than we are or politicians are lying yet again.

My money’s on the latter.
