America’s Own Popish Plots

Encyclopedia Britannica 1962 is my source for the following quotes. Titus Oates (1648-1705) was a “professional English perjurer”. He and “Israel Tonge, a fanatical anti-Jesuit” drew up “their account of a vast Jesuit conspiracy to assassinate the king, place the Duke of York on the throne and recover England for the Roman Catholic Church…Oates…deposited a written account of the plot with a prominent justice of the peace, Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey, and swore to the truth of its contents.”

“To any one with real knowledge of the Catholics it was obvious that the tale told by Oates was a clumsy fabrication. Unfortunately it contained just enough truth to enlist the support of the ignorant; it was welcomed by several of the contending factions at court, who imagined they could turn it to heir own advantage; and it received immediate apparent confirmation with the discovery of Godfrey’s dead body under circumstances never satisfactorily explained. A wave of terror swept over England which carried Oates to the summit of power.”

After several years and the execution of at lest 15-35 innocent persons, this “Popish Plot” was uncovered as a fabrication.

The “Russian Collusion Plot” (Russian Collusion Plot 1.0) is a fabrication whose responsibility has yet to be affixed definitively for history. The evidence points to ex-CIA chief John Brennan and FBI officials most directly. Like the Popish Plot, there was just enough truth in it in the form of trivial associations between Russians and people in the Trump circle to become a focal point for anti-Trump sentiments. Major media have constantly targeted Trump and associates.

The analog to a wave of terror in England (1678-1681) is a wavelet of fear in America. Entertainment figures sourced enormous invective against Trump, posing all sorts of dire scenarios. Trump has even been viewed as a Russian asset and treasonous. A wave of impeachment talk in America (2016-2018) has been occurring. The analog to court factions adopting the fabrication for their own ends, we have factions in Congress who have done the same.

There is no real foundation for any of this. There was no Popish Plot and there is no plot by Trump to eviscerate American rights and turn the country into a satellite of Russia and Putin.

The whole Russian collusion accusation or innuendo has been void of any sense from day 1, just as Oates’s accusations were perjury and meritless.

The Steele dossier has played the role of perjured testimony. It is perjury that has been suborned, bought and paid for. It is perjury that has been given a stamp of approval by powerful plotters. They placed it into circulation and launched investigations on its basis.

Mueller’s investigation of Russian influence and connections to the Trump campaign is a “Popish Plot” all of its own. It is “Russian Collusion Plot 2.0”. It too is devoid of anything of substance or significance relating to Russia and Trump. Trivial links such as a meeting in the Trump Tower and hackers are brought up to provide just enough real events to make the suspicions and allegations seem true and lend credibility to an investigation that is another Popish Plot.

Mueller’s investigation is built upon nothing, but it has trapped a couple of people close to Trump in personal lies and financial frauds that could have been investigated without Russia and Trump ever being brought into the story.

These plots construe Trump as the enemy. The “indictment” adds on obstruction of justice. How does that work? Whatever Trump says or does is construed by the plotters as attempts to stem Russian Collusion Plots 1.0 and 2.0; and then these statements and actions of his are taken as evidence of the reality of his guilt. He cannot fight the fabrications, which he should do, without his punches being taken as evidence against him.

These fabricated plots are victimizing America’s politics and processes of law. All of those who have been party to these plots should be disgraced as Titus Oates eventually was.
