Actor James Coburn died last week. We will not again hear his magnificent voice assure us, “Like a rock!” I had wondered last month why James Garner was doing the voice-overs for Chevy trucks. Now I know. One by one, the magnificent seven are dying. Cancer claimed Steve McQueen in 1980 and Yul Brynner in 1985. Bad scripts claimed Charles Bronson, whose 5-part series, “Death Wish,” pretty well describes his later career. Urban vigilante roles are scarce for guys over 80.
