Are Paulians Conservatives?

Since it was founded after WWII by CIA operatives Bill Buckley, James Burnham, Wilmoore Kendall, etc. American conservatism has been all about war and empire--and the "totalitarian bureaucracy within our shores" necessary to sustain them, in Bill's words. Conservatism has also been joined at the hip to the Republican party, the locus of Trumpism: corporatism, inflationism, warfarism, the police state, and belligerent managed trade. Jeffersonian tales of cutting government abound from time to time, but conservatives believe in big government every bit as much as liberals so.
