Wounded Warriors

NPR had a story today about Wounded Warrior Battalions—sick or seriously wounded troops who return to the U.S. from combat duty. There are three dozen of these battalions at bases across the country. It seems that there is a serious problem among some of the injured soldiers: they are hooked on prescription drugs. This is all so tragic and so preventable. None of these injured soldiers should ever have gotten injured in the first place fighting in some senseless foreign war. Now they will take medication the rest of their life. Mainly for pain, I guess, but probably also to just forget.
