But not for the reasons he should. This young man, a triple amputee who was severely wounded in Iraq on September 11, 2004, says he “volunteered to go to Iraq on both of my deployments, and the second time I begged to go even after I wasn’t selected.” During his second deployment he lost both legs and an arm. Yet, he says he never asked himself if it was worth it after losing three limbs. Why not? I think that would be a good question to ask. It is sad to read his letter to Obama. Not just because of what happened to this young man, but because he still doesn’t have a clue about the nature of the military and the war in Iraq.
