Would “anti-war” Democrats have supported Clinton’s Afghanistan invasion?

By now, a lot of people are aware of the upcoming Bill Clinton interview in which he gets angry and blames Bush for not capturing or killing Osama bin Laden. However, to me, the most telling thing of the Clinton interview is the following from him:

“Now if you want to criticize me for one thing, you can criticize me for this: after the Cole, I had battle plans drawn to go into Afghanistan, overthrow the Taliban and launch a full-scale attack search for bin Laden. But we needed basing rights in Uzbekistan — which we got after 9/11.”

This simply is stunning. And it is proof that the “anti-war” Democrats (who supported the U.S. attacks on Serbia in 1999) really are not anti-war at all. Does anyone think that Nancy Pelosi or the others would have denounced an Afghanistan invasion in which the Taliban were overthrown had Clinton launched it?

That is why I tend to be very skeptical of the Clintonistas who are burnishing their anti-war credentials. No, they are anti-war as long as the other political party does it. Such hypocrisy.
