There has been some controversy over the 200+ pardons made by outgoing Mississippi governor Haley Barbour because some of those pardoned were convicted murderers. But since every real crime needs a victim, why not pardon drug users instead of murderers? The answer, of course, is that Republicans are notorious drug warriors. This is true even as they talk on and on about individual liberty and getting government out of our lives. You really don’t think they mean it, do you?
