From someone who must remain anonymous lest he be excommunicated, here is advance notice of special events that will take place at a church tomorrow:
Songs: Star Spangled Banner, My Country ‘Tis of Thee, and America the Beautiful.
Pledges: to the American flag, the Christian flag, and the Bible, in that order.
Final special item: Recognition of United States Military Veterans.
I think this is typical of what will go on in churches that have patriotic services. Plus the usual nonsense prayers for God to bless the troops. I don’t think the pastors who plan these activities and the church members who participate are bad people. Most of them are just ignorant and have never considered what is wrong with these things. I know this is not a religious website, but I think pastors should be reading LRC. I know some do because they write me and tell me, but we need many more.
