This is what Americans used to do to government burueaucrats who came into their neighborhoods to steal from and harrass them. I was reminded of this by a TV news story last week while I was in South Florida. The kind neighbors of a disabled WW II veteran built him a wheelchair ramp so that he could get in out of his new house. When the local government building inspector showed up, according to the TV account, he ordered them to take the wheelchair ramp down or face serious fines. They complied, and the disabled veteran was put on a three-month waiting list to get his ramp built by Officially Licensed ramp builders.
