Who Are We Kidding?

Leave it to the NY Times to engage in the ultimate hubris: spreading fear that those dastardly “furiners” are going to “buy our elections.” An editorial today engages in the usual hysteria that evil foreign money is influencing the current congressional elections. (Ironically, the NYT gets its information from a George Soros-funded group, the Center for American Progress, but it is just fine if Soros props up politicians and buys elections because, after all, Soros thinks like they do at the NYT.)

However, my real issue is not with who is funding whom, but rather the fact that all my life, the U.S. of A. has been spending billions of dollars to influence and buy elections overseas. Furthermore, the CIA has been involved in foreign electoral politics from the very beginning of its creation, but somehow that is just fine.
