The analogy that is being made between the Bernie Made-Off Ponzi scheme swindle and Social Security is inaccurate. Made-Off lied to get people to give him their money. If they smelled a rat, as many did, they were free to walk away. The government also lies about its Social Security swindle, but we are NOT free to walk away. We will be kidnapped and imprisoned if we fail to pay Social Security taxes. As evil as Made-Off is, his swindle relied completely on his lies, but not on any ability to kidnap and imprison dissenters. That of course is the defining characteristic of all governments.
