Obama can enact new corporatist medical measures, as big drug companies, big doctors, and big hospitals hail their new subsidies. He can send more troops to protect big oil’s pipeline in Afghanistan, occupy Iraq for big oil, and threaten to murder even more Muslims in Iran, again for big oil (and the continued local nuclear monopoly of the most important US satellite, Israel). But he cannot control economic law, any more than that earlier commander-in-chief Canute could command the tides. The Fed’s manaical money printing, combined with the fractional-reserve banking so dear to Obama, is destroying the dollar and the US economy, to the benefit of gold. This is what will bring the empire down. Of course, Obama is not unique in being owned by big oil, big medicine, and especially big banking. So was his twin brother, George W. Bush. Both hailed the cold, cruel state with the big syringe.
