What strikes you as more pathetic: the gasping MSNBC news report about people firing automatic weapons at a private gun range in Oklahoma – as though non-government people with firepower in their hands was somehow unwholesome; or the prospect of millions of Americans attending government-run July 4th fireworks displays, under the state’s insistence – to which most of us acquiesce – that it will celebrate our “independence” for us?
