Were Children Tortured?

Seymour Hersh, according to an attendee at a lecture he recently gave at the University of Chicago, says that he has seen evidence that children were tortured at Abu Ghraib. This was also filmed.
(See Justin Raimondo on The Torturers).

[Hersh] said that after he broke Abu Ghraib people are coming out of the woodwork to tell him this stuff. He said he had seen all the Abu Ghraib pictures. He said, “You haven’t begun to see evil…” then trailed off. He said, “horrible things done to children of women prisoners, as the cameras run.”… He looked frightened.

As shocking and unbelievable as this report initially appears, let us remember that it is only consistent that the U.S. government would torture children. As we know, the U.S. government was willing to see hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children die under the regime of sanctions. During the invasion and occupation of Iraq, children have been killed by bombs and bullets. If they are willing to kill children, why not torture them? Nevertheless, I hope and pray that this report is false.
