In the meantime, last night, AMC (channel 41 out here in Chicagoland comcast) has piloted the re-make of the show, The Prisoner, starring Jim Caviezel as “6,” who played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, and Ian McKellen as “2,” of X-Men fame.
If you loved 1984, Enemy of the State, V for Vendetta, The Matrix trilogy (the state cannot tell you who you are), and other anti-government dystopias, this is your show. Be sure to go back and watch the original series in 1967; my cable company is showing them all free on demand. If you do not find it there, you can also watch it online via the same website above or linked here.
This is the kind of show that really hits a home run to show someone standing up for who they are, reclaiming their identity and fighting the state and corporatism. This show also reminds me a little of The Truman Show, as all the people seem to know “6,” (yes they all are known by numbers, which also happen to be their addresses), and so far as I have seen, “6” is not allowed to escape the edge of “The Village.”
Enjoy. This is for all school children. A great home school lesson, but screenplay is very good for adults. We just need to get the young to understand before the indoctrination occurs at 4 and 5 years old. As Tom DiLorenzo might say, Lincoln freed the slaves, and enslaved us all.
