The “sanity” of zero tolerance in New York City public prisons—er, I mean schools—marches on. This time it took place in the borough of Staten Island. It seems that 9-year old Patrick Timoney has got an earlier start in a life of crime than fellow New Yorker 12-year old Alexa Gonzalez. Patrick was caught playing with a one and a half inch LEGO action figure that had a machine gun attached to it. (To be fair, the machine gun was closer to one and three quarters inches.) The good news is that the deadly weapon was confiscated. The bad news is that Patrick will not be suspended. Better luck next time, Pat.
