Regarding your LRC blog posting at 9:31 this morning: Near the beginning of the Andrew Sullivan piece to which you refer, he said “At a moment like this, when we can see fully and clearly the evil that existed for so long — evil that we in the past did our part to maintain . . . . .”
I don’t know about you, but I had nothing to do with maintaining the evil to which Sullivan refers. All the blame goes to thugs in our government — some of whom, like Rumsfeld and Cheney, are still in power. Too bad we can’t force those same thugs to pay for this adventure themselves.
The wise observers catch the use of the word “we,” of course, but most people don’t. Even the Liberventionists are prone to the “we” thinking. Of course, Andrew Sullivan is vehement against the State when it comes to supporting the “right” to his homosexual lifestyle, but it goes to show that, in the long run, guys like Sullivan would make Benito proud: “tutto nello Stato, niente al fuori dello Stato, nulla contro lo Stato,” or, everything within the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State. They ultimately think that we cannot exist unless we exist by, of, and for the State.2:09 pm on December 15, 2003 Email Karen De Coster
