Vindication on Logan Young Story?

Last year, after Logan Young, an Alabama booster who was accused of paying money to steer football recruits to Alabama, was convicted in federal court in Memphis on charges stemming from his alleged payoffs, Candice E. Jackson and I wrote a piece condemning the federal charges and verdict.

As a result of that article, I was asked to be a guest on the Paul Finebaum Show, which is a radio sports talk show heard all over the South. During the show, the hosts attacked me for being critical of the federal courts, which I have dealt with in this article.

Now it turns out that the basis for appeal that Young’s attorneys filed was precisely the case I had made in my article: that the case should NOT have been heard in federal court, and that the only place he could have been convicted (legally) of bribery was state court.

Unfortunately, Young died recently in what police say was a home accident, so we will not know the results of the appeal. However, it is nice to know that Candice and I were vindicated in what we said.
