Jim Wolfe raises an interesting point that I had never thought of. Most Americans are dumbed down to the point where they don’t know the difference between units and percentages. If asked if Warren Buffet or Bill Gates pay more dollars than other consumers for the same loaf of bread or a gallon of gas, most folks would say no. So why should the products and/or services of government forced on us be any different? The fact that I pay a higher percentage of my income for bread or gas than Buffet or Gates doesn’t mean that I pay more than them in absolute terms. Should we have a Buffet rule for bread and gas purchases like Obama wants for income taxes?
