Hilarious news (to me anyway) this Nov. 11. [OOPS! This happened in 2007.] A Chinese submarine surfaced within torpedo range of the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Kitty Hawk! It eluded at least 12 other warships in the fleet that protects this carrier, and all that expensive technology failed to detect the new and uninvited member of the U.S. fleet. See here. Chinese naval power has been growing for some years now, which is not so funny.
