U.S. – Pakistan Relations To Be Tested Soon

In invading Iraq and Afghanistan, George Bush made two huge blunders. It was a big mistake to bring down the Taliban government of Afghanistan. This action destabilized both Afghanistan and Pakistan, attracting terrorist activity like magnets. Bush’s policies magnified the problem of terrorism.

Bush forced Pakistan into the U.S. camp as an ally in his war on terror, but Pakistan was a supporter of the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Taliban then regrouped in the tribal areas of Pakistan. The U.S. showered aid on Pakistan, which bore the brunt of casualties. After 12 years of this, Pakistan has had enough of the war on terror. Both candidates for prime minister want to negotiate with the Taliban. This is going to pose a big problem for the Obama adminstration.
