This article in the Iran Review makes a case that Israel is a useful satellite of the U.S. I don’t think that all the points made are particularly on target or clear, but I do think that the hypothesis the author posits is a sensible one. It is helpful in understanding the U.S. government’s policies on Israel, not only to see them as being influenced by Israel, but also as being intentionally chosen by the U.S. government for its own ends.
