Two-Party Strategy

Walter: It used to be the case — at least in New York state — that a candidate could run on both the Democratic and Liberal party tickets. The potential problem, as I recall, is that the votes were not totalled (i.e., 50,000 votes on the Demo. ticket + 10,000 votes on the Liberal ticket, did not add up to 60,000 votes for the candidate. I may be in error on this.)
