Two Parking Signs

I saw two parking signs today that were side by side. One said: “Reserved parking for expectant mothers.” The other said: “Parking by disabled permit only.” One was voluntary in that stores do not have to have it and no uniformed thug has to make sure that no one parks in it but expectant mothers; the other was mandated by the state and enforced by a badge and a gun. Which society do you want to live under? I will take the voluntary one–even if it means that no place of business has handicapped parking (a very unlikely thing). I have written about handicapped parking here and here. Every time I go to Home Depot I count the number of empty handicapped parking spaces. I guess not too many handicapped people are there buying sheets of drywall on the days I am there.
