David: You don’t suppose, do you, that Time — like other members of the MSM — is feeling the pressure of competition? How do established economic interests historically respond to such threats? Get the state to license entrants — with existing firms “grandfathered in,” of course, and with licensing boards made up of those already in the industry. Doctors, lawyers, dentists, etc., etc., and etc.
Not only is this rampant statist publication ignorant of western history, it is woefully lacking in an awareness of the First Amendment. But then, when you have sided with the state, individual liberty is just another form of entropy to be disposed of for the “general welfare.”
