McCain goes to Ukraine, joins the protests and tells them “We are all Ukrainians now.”
Kerry is now going to fly to Kiev. He’s already threatened sanctions.
Nuland of course is up to her neck in Ukraine’s politics. She was handing out cookies to protesters.
These people are blooming idiots, when it comes to saying or doing anything sensible for us powerless peons. From my point of view as a mere retiree who writes to maintain his sanity in a world of political movers and shakers whose actions seem mad, they need their heads examined. It’s 5,500 miles from Kansas to Kiev, which I have visited in 1989. Ukraine was a place for many immigrants to America (and Canada) to escape from to make a life here (1890s to 1920s) without any intention of meddling in its politics. Let the Ukrainians and other peoples sort out their own affairs without the meddling of the U.S. government.
These politicians lie in a swamp of hypocrisy, warning others not to interfere in Ukraine when that’s exactly what they are doing.
Obama is unable or unwilling to keep them quiet, so we must assume their actions are part of his game. It’s a meddlesome and dangerous game.
