The Wrong Question

Thomas Pynchon has said: “if they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers.”

A major political/social question is this: should the government schools teach “creationism” or “evolution?”

What if the issue is rephrased thusly: should there be government schools at all? If the answer is “no,” what becomes of the previous question? Does it not become as moot as the question of whether private schools will employ the pledge of allegiance?
