The Wall Street What?

At one time, the Wall Street Journal had vast ideological influence. Now, while readers still appreciate its business reporting, the hate-filled editorial pages are less read. How many times must we hear some variant of the Guru’s injunction in the movie Gunga Din: “Kill for the love of killing. Kill for the love of Kali. Kill! Kill! Kill!” I stopped my WSJ subscription when they were—bipartisan in murder—urging Clinton to kill even more Serbs. Now the Journal is smearing Ron Paul  for not being a Kalicon. Of course, it doesn’t work. Good people recognize decency when they see it. Indeed, none of the MSM smears are working anymore. In fact, the smearer is diminished. “Hate him. He is not part of the Vital Center. He has his own ideas. He ignores the Establishment. He opposes perpetual war in the Middle East. He doesn’t love the Empire. He’s against torture and prison camps. He agrees with George Washington about the dangers of particular animosity or devotion to foreign governments. Hate him.” Yuck, and yawn.
