This morning at church, our pastor read a plea from a Christian pastor in Syria who wrote that the Syrian opposition forces — people endorsed by the U.S. Government — have been murdering Syrian Christians with impunity. He wrote of whole Christian families being wiped out (including the children), Christian men being kidnapped, held for ransom, and then murdered after the ransom is paid.

After reading Fred Reed’s article on “Americanism” and Christianity and Michael Rozeff’s blog post, I think that the picture is a bit more clear. The U.S. Government’s tacit support of the murders committed by these “opposition” groups is not due to any nonsense that Barack Obama is a “closet Muslim” or that the Democrats control the State Department, but rather due to the fact that the advance of “Americanism” is necessarily the enemy of Christianity. I doubt seriously that people from the Religious Right can understand that fact, so they will continue to aid the machine of murder.
