The Taxman

Writes Mike Knox: “This is too funny. A federal list (partial) of the types of “other income” you must report for you yearly fleecing…”:

You must include on your return all income you receive in the form of money, property, and services unless the tax law states that you do not include them. Some items, however, are only partly excluded from income. This chapter discusses many kinds of income and explains whether they are taxable or nontaxable.

Bribes. If you receive a bribe, include it in your income.

Illegal income. Illegal income, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be included in your income on Form 1040, line 21, or on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040) if from your self-employment activity.

Kickbacks. You must include kickbacks, side commissions, push money, or similar payments you receive in your income on Form 1040, line 21, or on Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040), if from your self-employment activity.

Stolen property. If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless in the same year, you return it to its rightful owner.

The Taxman

Maybe it’s just me, but I find it bizarre that when I pay my property taxes I have to make out the check to an individual–“Paul Bettencourt, Tax Asessor-Collector”. My income taxes go to the IRS, not to some individual.

The Taxman

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Lyrics to the great Beatles song.
