The Stench of Tony Blair Continues

“Former Prime Minister Tony Blair channelled millions of pounds through a complicated web of companies and paid just a fraction in tax,” The Sunday Telegraph reveals.

No surprise there. The con-man always sold himself to the highest bidder. The stammering, rule-from-the gut Bush saw Blair as his Iraq sanitizer — “History will vindicate us,” Blair blurted when the facts about Iraq emerged from behind the neocon smoke screen to drown his smarmy strut.

Blair the plunderer merely reflects the current kleptocracy — Blair, Bush, Cheney, Santorum, Gingrich, Clinton, Romney, et al. — writ large. They all made their millions “legally,” of course — in Washington, after all, if you’re not in jail, you’re ethical (and increasingly, in America, if you are in jail, you might very well be innocent).

From Plato and Aristotle to our Founding Fathers, a nagging fact about history endures: As the band of robbers camouflaged as crusaders for democracy plunder the planet, the iron fist of tyranny waits its turn.
