I’ve never really understood the whole Richard Cournelle thing — I’ve only heard bits and pieces. This obit/article explains it all. He is the original libertarian sellout, smart in some ways and dopey in others. Reading between the lines, I detect a hardcore anti-Rothbardianism here, and it just struck me that this guy might have been the original “Roy Childs” — the person who worked behind the scenes to constantly beat back Rothbardianism, from as early as 1957!

As a wealthy and aristocratic and well-connected guy — apparently warm and captivating as a man — he might have been the one who converted Charles Koch.
