The Oldest Not-for-Profit Monopoly Is in Trouble

It looks like the United States Postal Service is slowly going down the tubes. (Ah, if only the rest of the government would follow.) Because the USPS is already projecting $238 billion in losses over the next ten years, it is in the process of considering certain cost-cutting measures—including the end of Saturday mail delivery. Another “brilliant” way it’s considering  is to raise its prices. Being a monopoly in the delivery of First Class Mail, this may work for awhile—but eventually consumers will find a way around this.
