The obvious solution is to permit people to defend themselves with their own firearms, but such a solution not only will be ignored, but not even on the radar screen. I can guarantee you that if I were to make that point in an on-campus discussion right now, I would face retaliation from faculty members who most likely would run away screaming with their hands over their ears.

But, then, governments are not interested in “solutions” to make us more safe. Governments are interested in obtaining more power over the lives of individuals.
