The Media and Mug Shots

Karen’s post really hits hard, as we see a decent woman being hauled away to jail. And, yes, one can tell in the other picture that she is very, very lovely. What angers me is that the media generally loves to use the “mug shot,” which is taken by police and then distributed to the press.

The purpose of the mug shot is not to give a pictorial identification of the accused, but rather to present the accused in the worst possible light. Mug shots invariably are taken when a person is under duress and generally looks awful. Yet, that is what the state-loving media wants: someone who looks guilty.

Don’t fall for the “we protect the liberties of the public” argument from the mainstream media. These people are in bed with the authorities, always have been and always will be.
