‘The Man With the Golden Gun’

Of all the James Bond movies, this 1974 release has to have the lowest production values. Scaramanga, the villain, does indeed have a golden gun, though it is an ugly one obviously not made of gold. Hilariously, through a product placement deal with American Motors, he drives a Matador. A smirking Roger Moore, 007, drives a Hornet. Funny to see these cars trying to corner in the “chase” scenes. My favorite moment: Scaramanga and Bond are having lunch (don’t ask), and the villain relishes their essential brotherhood, toasting: “We’re the best!” Replies an indignant Bond, “When I kill, I kill on the specific orders of my government.”
