The Killings in San Diego

Writes Dan Baehr, ex-USMC:

I live approximately three miles from where the plane killed that man’s family and I drive that strip of Hwy 805 several times a day. I was also attached to the 3rd MAW from 1968-1969 when it was El Toro in Orange County, Ca. While I certainly feel for Mr.Yoon’s loss, and think he is correct in forgiving the young pilot, if only for his own peace of mind and healing, I almost found myself throwing-up when he called the pilot one of “our treasures.” A treasure to do WHAT.

Is anyone willing to consider that this pilot did EXACTLY what he and all others like him are trained to do? Destroy things and KILL people. The fact that this was an accident and the four people KILLED [read murdered], were friendlies is pulling on everyone’s emotions. Editorials are once again calling for putting this base somewhere in the desert. How many of these people [remembering San Diego is HEAVY into the military cult] feel any anguish when they find out that more of their “treasures” do this kind of destruction and murder almost daily in far away lands and other innocent peoples lives are taken from them by our brainwashed treasures in service to the empire. I am guessing the number’s would be very ,very small indeed. Wouldn’t it be nice if this family’s lives served as a wake-up call?

The govment and Corps [when I was in we said USMC stood for “Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children”] will come out with a bunch of flowery, sentimental speeches and apologies and maybe some small monetary compensation, but you and I know that NOTHING will change. They have had years and years of practice, haven’t they?
