The Fall of Bush

There has been overwhelming support in Congress for “staying the course” in Iraq, primarily because the political establishment favors the war system upon which its’ powers ultimately depend. Even though a majority of Americans now appear to oppose the war, with many resenting the lies and deceit that produced this atrocity, there has been little serious talk of the impeachment of Bush. I wonder if congressional voices might now be heard urging Bush’s impeachment over his administration’s bungled response to the flooding in New Orleans. Just as Nixon faced the threat of impeachment, not over his conduct of the Vietnam War, but over the Watergate affair; and Bill Clinton was impeached over his Lewinsky affair; Bush could face impeachment on grounds that would be “safe” for the war machine. Should that come to pass, we might then get the opportunity to see, up front, the man who has been the real president for nearly these past five years!
