I really enjoyed your characterization of this spectacle as “Fascist Jumping Jacks”.  In the words of my Irish grandmother, ” These creeps are up and down like a whore’s nickers!”.  Since these speeches are largely a self-congratulatory farce, I propose renaming it the “State of the Statists”. Or, in light recent events, we might brand it the “State of the Involuntary Union”.

I’m reminded of Stalinist Russia where ovations lasted several minutes because each Party member was terrified of being seen as the first one to stopclapping.
