The DHS is a Racket Twice Over

The DHS states “Protecting the United States from terrorism is the founding mission of the Department of Homeland Security.”

I was born in 1941, never needed the DHS and still don’t. Local police were and are sufficient to protect Americans.

The first systematic terrorism in America, 1974-1983, was that of the FALN, a Puerto Rican group. It didn’t take a DHS or even FBI agents to stop them, although the FBI’s labs helped. Local police in several cities made major inroads against this group’s robberies, including police in Evanston, Illinois. The FALN also suffered from accidental detonations of their bombs.

The FALN wanted independence for Puerto Rico, which had come under the U.S. empire in the Spanish-American War. U.S. imperialism had fostered retaliation that took the form of the FALN attacks on American soil. (There was also an attempt on Truman’s life by a Puerto Rican.) The role of the empire in creating this retaliation cannot be overlooked.

The next terror attack on American soil was in 1993 on the World Trade Center. But this didn’t come out of the blue. There had been attacks on Americans in Lebanon between 1983 and 1991, especially on the embassy and on military facilities.

Again, the U.S. policy of expansionism, intrusion and intervention was responsible for eliciting retaliation. Reagan intervened in Lebanon in 1982. Eisenhower had intervened in 1958 too.

If you will read the history of the 1993 attack, you will find that, if anything, the FBI either contributed to the attack or completely failed to use the information it had to stop it. Furthermore, the FBI didn’t track down the perpetrators. As often happens, a tip was the key to an arrest, which was made in Pakistan. No DHS existed and none was needed in pursuing this case.

The DHS claims its mission is protection against terrorism. The DHS is a racket twice over.

“A racket is a service that is fraudulently offered to solve a problem.”

Since the government has created the problem of terrorism while fraudulently denying that it has, and then in building up the DHS has fraudulently offered a non-solution to solve the problem of its own making, the DHS is a racket twice over. Actually, since the DHS’s activities actively invade everyone’s rights, it is a racket thrice over.

None of us would have any expectation of systematic terrorism against Americans in America if there were not a U.S. empire that systematically intrudes in lands where it doesn’t belong. Retaliations from these places take time, sometimes decades. The U.S. is breeding new terrorists all the time and in more and more places.

There is no need for a sprawling, clumsy, intrusive and ineffective set of bureaucracies in the DHS to handle a problem that the government itself has created and is creating. What is needed is a good strong dose of systematic neutrality and shrinking of the empire, the very opposite of the long-standing policies of the U.S. government.

Even if the government continues to breed terrorists, there is no need for the DHS anyway. Local police and standard methods of detection are sufficient to handle the problem. I’ve argued this before.

The entire war on terror is a gross fraud perpetrated on Americans.
